About her work

MaryEllen Curran explores a spectrum of light beyond what the human eye can see through infrared photography.

In this unseen world, foliage glows with luminous intensity, shadows deepen, water absorbs and the landscape transforms into something both familiar and otherworldly.

Her early infrared images were captured using Kodak High Speed Infrared Film, a now - discounted medium revered for its ethereal tonal qualities and rarity in contemporary photography. Today, she continues this exploration using a converted camera designed to capture only infrared wavelengths, allowing her to extend the same philosophical pursuit of light through modern technology.

For MaryEllen, infrared photography is more than a technique—- it is a philosophical exploration of light itself. The medium reveals what normally remains hidden, inviting viewers to step beyond the visible world and experience nature through a quieter, more contemplative lens.

An internationally award-winning photographer for this work, he explores the intersection of nature, spirit and the unseen spectrum of light.

Each photograph is produced as an archival fine art print using museum-quality materials designed for long term preservation.

Through infrared, the landscape becomes a meditation on presence, mystery and the quiet intelligence of the natural world.
